#been scripting the GNU Image Manipilation Program this past few months #reworking the internal dither matrices and so on. but more than that #getting familiar for this project #and last night I fixed the last few bugs on my automatic image rescaling script. i can now programmatically make images bitonal #looks worse than by hand BUT HEY that's life. and moreover it's a worthwhile compromise because!!!!#that's a one liner (admittedly a chonky line) to take photo‚ scale‚ convert #and print it on my serial printer #then do cleanup #ANYWAY i am excited. next step is make it not suck !!!#and then need to find a way to do it at the press of a button lol

Started a new book series, and has been a journey...an Odyssey, if you will.

#poorly drawn odyssey #the odyssey #Athena #telemachus #penelope #odysseus #calypso #I also drew Phemius the bard and Antinous the leader of the suitors but I'll hold onto those for a while longer.#The Odyssey has been on my reading list for ages and I finally decided to just dive into the Robert Fagles translation.#*nobody* ever talks about how damn funny the Odyssey is. Oh my god. I have been howling.#The poor bard doomed to keep playing for this unending feast. The most unwilling court jester.#Penelope being introduced by her crying about how much she 'hates this song'.#And Telemachus is the goodest lad. The OG protag to set about on his heroes journey.#He is kind! He is soft! He yearns for adventure and finding out the truth! He wants to get back at his bullies!#He even gets a companion named Mentor. THE original mentor! Who is *totally* not a god by the way. Just a guy.#Not to mention how much Odysseus gets hyped up only for his first appearance to be him sobbing non-stop.#Honestly I was mostly motivated by the need to do research for a personal project but I've been having the best time.#I sincerely doubt my current audience has any overlap with classic Greek literature but expect a few more PD-Odyssey posts.#(Yes - I am familiar with Epic the Musical; this is not fanart of that adaptation).

Just realized the only "humans" during the sahara v concorp thing was scar and grian, the only non restoners of the 5 4 so how did it look/work back then?

Going back and re-writing hermitcraft history isn't something I've done a whole lot of for this au, but it's definitely really interesting to think about!

I also made this a season 8 au because that's when I started watching Hermitcraft, so it's the season I'm most knowledgeable about--this also means that I'm really not very deeply knowledgeable at all regarding previous seasons, other than their primary plots and themes/important figures. So in short, I don't have a great answer for that (and i get this question a lot about various things, so i figured i'd go ahead and respond to one hehe) But!! It's definitely one of those things that would be fun to sit down and puzzle out one day :] It's kinda how rel and I started puzzling out and re-writing 3rd life for this au afterall :D

Knowing that the server member count was basically halved for a lot of hermitcraft history really makes it feel like it's been a lot smaller of a family/community, which is honestly very interesting (and you'll have to pardon my xisuma brainrot, but thinking about it this way also makes me realize that going from a server with 10-12 ish members to a suddenly whopping 25 ish could have definitely added to Xisuma's stresses coming out of s8 and going into s9)!

It's a little bit late, but Happy Anniversary to Pokémon Colosseum! This took the best part of a month to complete (working on and off). Likes and reblogs heavily appreciated! Acrylic on canvas, 30 x 40

The two paintings side by side on my wall (as a side note, both of these were signed digitally on their solo photos for me to show online, since I didn't want to risk messing them up with my inconsistent squiggly signature or have the pen misfire horrifically ^^' )

Referring to Arya's development in Braavos as "brief descriptions" when her AFfC/ADwD chapters are almost entirely dedicated to showing us her training is...certainly a choice. Doing so to claim that Sansa has the more detailed learning arc? Pure clownery. You'd never guess from this response that the original post was about detailing Arya's training with the FM (using quotes from the book!) and makes no mention of Sansa anywhere. Notably this response provides no evidence from the books and makes objectively false claims; nowhere across five books is Sansa mentioned to have a grasp of High Valyrian but, of course, Sansa has to be handed every skill that Arya has without any page space dedicated to learning it. I know this is a wild concept, but Arya exists as her own character and not everything about her story can be applied to Sansa.

to me ragatha is the most tragic blend of fawning and wanting to be liked and being terrified that the people around you are going to die at any moment and a desperate desire for things to turn out okay and more and it makes me distraught

This post relies on so much headcanonning/extrapolating details from Nifast's imitation/echo pieces so bear with me, but I do seriously think that Damon would have a lot of weird feelings about being a human because he has such a large disconnect with the experiences of the people around him.

(I put the rest of this post under a cut bcs it's a bit long + im shy. but you should read it because im right)

He suffered a lonely childhood where making friends was difficult or impossible for him, for reasons that he may not have even understood as a kid. He fixates on debating eventually not only because it has the potential of bringing his parents out of poverty, but because it could give him a sense of belonging. He fits in by being good at picking apart other people's words and using those mistakes to tear them apart in turn. He puts himself in greater opposition to people, accepting that he's in some way fundamentally different from other people.

I don't think it'd be a farfetched idea that Damon would connect with being inhuman, in that case. He wouldn't understand it as more than awkwardness around people because he "prefers being alone", but getting into Eden's Garden Academy and being around people that are a lot more online than him, talk of non-human people would eventually come up, and that would end in Damon doing some research on it between studying for debates.

One thing leads to another, and Damon ends up reluctantly accepting that he *really* aligns with nonhumans, particularly Therians. He can't help seeing so much of himself in snakes; simple yet dangerous creatures living solitary lives, viewed as strange and scary despite how little of a threat they really pose to people. Being harmed just for being difficult to understand and humans unwilling to leave it alone.

Ultimately, it doesn't actually change that much about his life when he's accepted this. Kai is sending him any instagram videos that have snakes, and he's getting a lot more snake-themed presents around his birthday, but other than tiny habits and some changes in how he refers to himself, it's ultimately just to fulfill a part of his sense of self that's been missing for so long.

#sleep token #sleep token fanart #levynn tries to draw #so the thought behind this..#there was a lot but in short #the concept is that the moth represents vessel mostly #the masks are the past cycles or states of being #essentially they represent the past selves of the individual #and the moth is chasing those past memories and feelings and familiar things even if they kill it #and Sleep is basically trying to protect them from that #by physically pulling them back #but i wanted to have the tentacles a sort of insect like feel to them #to somewhat evoke a spider in a way so that protection still probably going to harm the moth #and beyond that maybe even play on the idea of it trapping the insect and maybe even consume it up after a period of time #so the moth is both trying to escape that reach but also chasing that pull of the beacon like familiarity of the past #there is no escape #there is no reason left #no options just what is behind and what is in front #stuck between the two #in a way this is an iteration on my idea of the vessel failing and getting lost on the journey at the very end #anyway this was a fun little one day project and i hope you enjoy it at least half as much as i did drawing it

Something I've been thinking a lot about lately is how everyone thought Egon had gone insane. What Happened that made them think that. They've fought a gigantic Stay Puft Marshmellow Man TWICE (counting the 2009 video game because iirc it's canon? Correct me if I'm wrong), fought an interdimensional god, fought a blood thirsty ruler that killed thousands and was hated by all that was trapped in a painting (and managed to get in to beat him by making THE STATUE OF LIBERTY start walking down the street with slime that reacted purely based on vibes), found an underground abandoned transit system full of the moodslime, had a bathtub try to eat Dana and her baby, fought a giant murderous black widow lady, fought the fisherman ghost who turned an entire hotel floor into the bottom of a ocean, and that's not even mentioning them getting trapped on an island that randomly raised up from underwater that had been abandoned for decades created by Ivor Shandor who worshipped Gozer. So what did he do or say that made everyone else think he'd gone insane?? All I can think is maybe he was acting strange / eratic before, but he's always been like that to some degree.

I don't know. It's something that I've been thinking about. The correct answer is 'it's not that deep and they needed a reason that the others weren't together anymore and weren't aware of Egons death or know what was going on,' but also. What Was He Saying that prompted everyone, including Ray, to think he lost his mind when he'd been right almost every time before that.

I'm genuinely so curious as to what he was up to before this. What was he doing. What insane idea was working on prior to this or was he even working on anything at all??

Also want to clarify this post isn't negative 😭 I really love the newer movies and their lore / the newer storyline / characters, I just like thinking about small stupid things like this. Gives me something to think about / speculate about / figure out an answer to.
